　　"The first FBI director J. Edgar Hoover started the "10 most wanted fugitives" program on March 14, 1950," 美國聯(lián)邦調(diào)查局第一任局長胡佛1950年3月14號推出了“十大通緝要犯”這一項目。

　　"The goal of the list is to shine a spotlight on the most wanted fugitives," 這份名單目的是要引起公眾對這些通緝要犯的注意。美國聯(lián)邦調(diào)查局的統(tǒng)計數(shù)字顯示， "94% of the 494 fugitives who have appeared on the list have been caught or located," 登上這份名單的494個在逃犯中，百分之94的人最終都被抓獲或是被找到。
